This is not going to be a single product review, in fact Elite Chef (sold by Pure Life Essentials) has just recently released an entire line of utensils that have fully replaced other things in my kitchen, and I wanted to share them all with you.
(Full disclosure: I received complimentary samples of these products in exchange for my honest reviews, and hopefully, my readers know that I will not say something is great if it isn’t. I receive no other compensation from Elite Chef, so I am not doing this for commission or as an affiliate, I am going this in-depth because of how much I love these products)
I will have links to where you can find and purchase them, as well as photos taken from their product sales page (which is where you will also find the links to their Amazon page). I will also try to upload links to several videos of these items in use on my YouTube Channel eventually. You can see their entire product line here on Amazon.com, but I will also include individual links to the various products I review below.
The item I first received and was probably the most excited about was their garlic press. Why? I love garlic, but without a good garlic press, I am too lazy in the kitchen to peel and chop those little garlic cloves, and will grab the jar and cheat! But truly, nothing beats fresh garlic (although I recently reviewed a really good garlic powder that I will often use in place of fresh).
This is their garlic press, and it is really unique It also comes with a stainless steel handle as well as a black handle, and I cannot decide which I like best. The silicone tube pictured (mine was blue) also comes when you order the garlic press and it is for peeling those little cloves. Now I can be technologically challenged, and that peeler tube looks easy enough, but it took me several tries (and actually reading the instructions) before I was able to consistently get that little baby to peel the garlic. But I think I have it now. Additionally, there is a removable basket where the garlic goes and gets pushed through to be ‘pressed’. This is really nifty because you can drop that in the dishwater without having to wash the entire handle and everything else. I personally think that this little feature will prolong the life of the press.
One of the things that I LOVE to use garlic in is mashed potatoes and they have a really unique potato masher.
I love mashed potatoes, and they were one of the first things I learned to cook when I was growing up. I really scored when I met a man who liked lumpy potatoes because no matter how I’ve tried, I have never been able to make silky smooth lump-less potatoes without a hand mixer, and frankly, I think hand mixers mash potatoes ‘too’ much, making them more like glue than a side dish. This masher gets my potatoes more lump-less, but keeps them fluffy and ‘real’. I love it! I also use this for mixing all kinds of things. The shape makes it ideal in my mixing bowls for keeping my brownie batter lump free, and when cooking ground meat in my stainless steel or cast iron skillet, I can break up the larger chunks with this baby. I won’t use it in my non-stick cookware because the metal would scratch it. Love it!
The literal first item out of the box that I was sent was the ice cream scoop. And the only reason it came out of the box first is because my husband saw it. He promptly took it to the kitchen, washed it (as you should do all items for the kitchen before their first use), opened the freezer, took out his 1/2 gallon of Butterfingers ice cream and oohed and aahed at how this scoop made short work of filling his bowl.
In his words…”50 star product!
It enabled me to get my ice cream AND more of it sooner.
I did not have to “fling” or thump it on the bowl to get the residue that clings with spoons or other utensils.
It just works perfectly. ”
Cleanup is a breeze too. So many ice-cream scoops have the mechanical strip that scrapes the ice-cream out of the scoop, and that is simply impossible to get clean. This is just the one piece, and something about it is completely non stick. The ice cream didn’t stick at all. It is simply wonderful!
Another item they sent, which frankly won’t get as much use in my home, but will be nice to have when I need it is their apple corer. I really think that one of the reasons that I do not use apples more often in my home and cooking is because of how work intensive they are.
It is really easy to use, and would make short work of a bushel of apples for pie or canning. You would still need to peel the apple, but you can find gadgets out there for that as well. I made baked apples for dessert after testing this item, and it was great to know that my prep time was literally seconds.
The next item on my list of favorite utensils by Elite Chef are their whisks.
How do I love this whisk…let me count the ways. 1) Appearance: It looks great for any kitchen (although I wish it came in other colors than red for the whisk part). 2) The whisk part is solid, although silicone. I’ve owned other silicone whisks, and the whisk part was always rather flimsy. This is very solid which is needed for really mixing and aerating things that you are mixing. 3) I love silicone for cooking because I can use this whisk to mix and stir my bechamel sauce and gravies without worry about scratching my non-stick pans (metal whisks) or melting the whisk (plastic whisks). 4) The size. At 12″ I can whisk eggs for an omelet or egg whites for dessert in my deepest stainless steel bowl without worrying about coating my hand in eggs. While I’m sure the 10″ whisk also sold by Elite Chef, is fine, I am a fan of the longer length of this one. There are other things I like about this whisk, the stainless steel handle, and you absolutely cannot beat the 100% Lifetime Guarantee. It ROCKS!
The last item for this post is the cheese-slicer. If you haven’t guessed by now, I love food. One of the foods toward the top of my list of favorites are any kind of cheese. I love hard, soft, cream, even the fake liquid cheeses on State Fair Nachos. But my absolute favorite snack is to take a block of extra sharp cheddar and slice off bits and just nibble on it.
This is a great cheese knife. Both my husband and I LOVE cheese. I like anything that is cheese and he especially likes sharp cheddar. When I received this, I went out and bought a block of extra sharp cheddar because I figured that I might as well get something we both would like. I filmed the video (hopefully I will get it uploaded to YouTube soon), and put everything away. I didn’t particularly like this video I made, so the next day, I went into the fridge to get the cheese and couldn’t find it. Then I went to my utensil drawer for this cheese slicer, and couldn’t find it EITHER. My next step was my hubby’s home officer where I found a plate, some cheesy crumbs and the cheese slicer…well used. It was a hit!
I will do another post for the final item from Elite Chef, the Almond Nut Milk Bag. I’m in the process of finding a good source of natural raw almonds, and this is a new thing for me, making almond milk. I’ll dedicate an entire post to that however.
