Yum…Bread! My Kryptonite! 4-stars!

I love bread.  Unfortunately my wallet doesn’t.  I try to eat healthier bread, but often at the end of the month I get what I can afford.  Zack from Keyton has given me one of their new bread machines to test, and omg, is there anything better than home-made bread?  I don’t think so.  This is a great bread machine with 25 options, I have only explored 1 or 2 at the time of this post.  I use it to make bread.  Period.  However, if you are adventurous, this machine has settings to make dough without baking, as well as yogurt, roasted nuts???, and vinegar.  I am looking forward to trying those features when I figure those out, but for now, my palate and my stomach are both grateful for the bread settings.  YUM.  Here is the link to my review video on YouTube.

Why not 5 stars?  Well, two reasons, and not because the tops of my loaves aren’t looking the way I want, the bread is still yummy.  The owner’s manual is in VERY small print, and I had to pull out a magnifying glass to read it, and it contained only the most basic information about bread machines.  It also didn’t come with ANY recipes which really surprised me.  The other issue is the price which seemed a bit high, but it is such a full-featured machine it might be worth it if I used ALL the features.

I still love this machine and plan to use it often.  Even my hunny who isn’t a fan of bread loved the loaves I made with this machine.  And I am saving money!

Toys for my new toy!

I’ve only recently gotten my first GoPro (my husband has had one for awhile), and while neither of us are adventurous or athletic, we both love taking photos and videos and love to record our pets and our road trips. These cameras allow us to do so without worrying about packing an extensive camera bag or collection. I love these wrist straps by MuvePro because I keep them in our glove box, and when we hop out of the car, I can have my camera on my wrist which is easily accessible. I don’t do a lot of boating, so I cannot imagine using the floating band for that, but any time I am near the water, I wear it because frankly, I am clumsy, and if anything I am liable to simply trip or drop it in the ocean, never to be seen again. Hopefully with this on my wrist it won’t go flying, but if it does, the floater should keep it visible (hopefully a better swimmer than I will grab it for me) or else it will remain visible as it floats out to sea :P.

You can find these straps here.

You can see my new action camera (GoPro clone) here.

Building the yard of our dreams!

My husband and I recently moved into a new home with an amazing yard.  Some landscaping had been done by a previous owner/tenant, and there are trees galore, in fact our back yard is forested, with about 1/3 acre of protected wetlands coming up to within 10 yards of the house.  This makes for some interesting encounters with wildlife (our security cam picked up a VERY large cat near our back door the other night).  But two recent items we received for review are making the spending of time in our yard more pleasurable.  This would be a hammock and a swinging chair.   Both were offered at steep or complete discounts in order for us to provide reviews on Amazon, but the difference they have made in our yard has made me want to review them here as well.

The first is the Zeny(R) Blue Hanging Rope Chair by Natorytain .

Zeny® Blue Hanging Rope Chair Porch Swing Seat Patio Camping Max. 265 Lbs (Blue, 1)

Lovely chair, and while this is not a photo of it on our patio (I would LOVE that patio), it is how this chair looks.  We have it mounted on a special hanger that my husband built on a tree in our yard.  It holds up to 265 lbs which means it is either for one or two very light individuals.  It is sturdy and well made and just adds a certain fun to our yard.  Very comfortable too!  The only thing I would change would be to have mosquito repellent  built in :P.

The other item is the hammock.  This is the

Driftsun® Patio and Lawn Portable Hammock with Steel Stand (Tropical)

This hammock was assembled very quickly, and is great for napping and enjoying cooler weather in our yard.  It is easy to move and will hold my husband without sagging.  I have always wanted a hammock, and now our yard feels like the yard of my dreams.  All I need to do is grow a green thumb and plant some flowers for next spring and summer. Marigolds would remind me of home and Mom’s rock garden with hens & chickens (the plant not the critters).  These both get five stars from me for their durable construction, as well as their bright colors that coincidentally went quite well with each other.  Hopefully we will have many years with this set up!

My husband received complimentary or discounted samples of these two items in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Insect Repellent Bracelet by Huuman Exploration Innovations – 5 Stars

I love natural solutions to problems that we typically throw chemicals at to solve.  Insects are one of those issues.  I, especially, have spent a large part of my life throwing chemicals at insects that like to bite me.  I, apparently, am a yummy treat for many of these little parasites.  Mosquitoes, fire ants, gnats and other unmentionables.  These aren’t poisonous to me, thank goodness, but I do itch when bitten.  I’ve tried everything from ‘Deet’ based products, which usually work (but I am afraid of the long term damage to my cells for its constant use), to home made solutions with essential oils and my own herbal infusions.  The home-made solutions are very time consuming, and hit and miss since I am a novice.  This Insect Repellent Bracelet and clip is the best of both worlds in one.  It is made from the essential oils that I am very familiar with, but doesn’t involve me slathering my skin with them.  I’ve been wearing the bracelet almost continuously when outdoors (which I am outside a lot), and have noticed fewer bits.  It hasn’t eliminated them entirely but I am not constantly swatting away the annoying creatures like I normally do, nor am I glowing with an oily glow from having applied my homemade concoctions head to toe.  I believe this is working.  I gave the clip to my husband, and as he is also a favorite snack of the voracious critters here in North Carolina (even the flies bite hard), and he has been complaining less.  I am going to continue with this, and may get an extra set to use as an ankle bracelet to ensure that no matter where they try to bite, they will be faced with this wonderful assortment of natural ingredients that they HATE!

I found the Coolest Portable LED Light and Fan for my Laptop Bag!

A few weeks ago, I was asked to review a really fantastic product, and I wanted to tell you about it, as well as a special offer for my readers on this blog.  First of all, what am I so excited about?  Well it isn’t the biggest thing I’ve every reviewed, but it may be the coolest.  It is the Mostfeel Portable USB Mini LED light & USB-Powered Cooling Fan.  Both are plug and play type devices, plugging directly into a USB port (I have a hub for my laptop with 3 ports).  I often grade papers in the evening, and then enter the grades on my laptop.  I hate lighting up the whole room when all I need is the area on my desk right next to my computer.  So I plug this little light in to the USB hub, bend the twisty light to point exactly where I need it and get busy grading.  The Fan that is part of this set is really nifty as well.  It is the same basic idea as the light, plugged into the USB port, bent to direct the air flow where it is needed, and in North Carolina in late July, I need that baby pointed right at me.

I also use the light as a reading light, either when I’m in bed, or sitting in our dimly lit living room.  I just grab one of my power banks (with a USB port), plug in the light and I have a portable lamp to do my reading by.  I love this little baby.

I received a complimentary sample of this light/fan set in exchange for a review, and the merchant wanted me to offer you, my readers a great discount on this set.   Since it is a fairly new item, they are already selling it on Amazon at a great promotional price.  Originally 22.99, they are offering it as a special promotion for only 12.98.  BUT, for my readers, if you use the code I’ve put below for you, will receive nearly 4.00 more off that promotional price (so 8.99).  If you have Amazon Prime, it will ship for free too!

Here is the link – Mostfeel Portable USB Mini LED Light & Adjustable Fan

Just add the second one to your cart (the one shipping from Hong Kong) , and when you get to checkout just enter the code: 8888ML02
***Quick edit, I just found out that they lowered their regular price to $9.99, and with the code, it should lower the price to $6.99 with free shipping from Hong Kong!  A great deal all the way around, if you are patient!
