New Line of Kitchen Utensils I just had to tell you about!

This is not going to be a single product review, in fact Elite Chef (sold by Pure Life Essentials) has just recently released an entire line of utensils that have fully replaced other things in my kitchen, and I wanted to share them all with you.

(Full disclosure:  I received complimentary samples of these products in exchange for my honest reviews, and hopefully, my readers know that I will not say something is great if it isn’t.  I receive no other compensation from Elite Chef, so I am not doing this for commission or as an affiliate, I am going this in-depth because of how much I love these products)

I will have links to where you can find and purchase them, as well as photos taken from their product sales page (which is where you will also find the links to their Amazon page).  I will also try to upload links to several videos of these items in use on my YouTube Channel eventually.  You can see their entire product line here on, but I will also include individual links to the various products I review below.

The item I first received and was probably the most excited about was their garlic press.  Why?  I love garlic, but without a good garlic press, I am too lazy in the kitchen to peel and chop those little garlic cloves, and will grab the jar and cheat!  But truly, nothing beats fresh garlic (although I recently reviewed a really good garlic powder that I will often use in place of fresh).

This is their garlic press, and it is really unique  It also comes with a stainless steel handle as well as a black handle, and I cannot decide which I like best.  The silicone tube pictured (mine was blue) also comes when you order the garlic press and it is for peeling those little cloves.  Now I can be technologically challenged, and that peeler tube looks easy enough, but it took me several tries (and actually reading the instructions) before I was able to consistently get that little baby to peel the garlic.  But I think I have it now.  Additionally, there is a removable basket where the garlic goes and gets pushed through to be ‘pressed’.  This is really nifty because you can drop that in the dishwater without having to wash the entire handle and everything else.  I personally think that this little feature will prolong the life of the press.

One of the things that I LOVE to use garlic in is mashed potatoes and they have a really unique potato masher.

I love mashed potatoes, and they were one of the first things I learned to cook when I was growing up. I really scored when I met a man who liked lumpy potatoes because no matter how I’ve tried, I have never been able to make silky smooth lump-less potatoes without a hand mixer, and frankly, I think hand mixers mash potatoes ‘too’ much, making them more like glue than a side dish. This masher gets my potatoes more lump-less, but keeps them fluffy and ‘real’. I love it! I also use this for mixing all kinds of things. The shape makes it ideal in my mixing bowls for keeping my brownie batter lump free, and when cooking ground meat in my stainless steel or cast iron skillet, I can break up the larger chunks with this baby.  I won’t use it in my non-stick cookware because the metal would scratch it. Love it!

The literal first item out of the box that I was sent was the ice cream scoop.  And the only reason it came out of the box first is because my husband saw it.  He promptly took it to the kitchen, washed it (as you should do all items for the kitchen before their first use), opened the freezer, took out his 1/2 gallon of Butterfingers ice cream and oohed and aahed at how this scoop made short work of filling his bowl.

In his words…”50 star product!
It enabled me to get my ice cream AND more of it sooner.
I did not have to “fling” or thump it on the bowl to get the residue that clings with spoons or other utensils.
It just works perfectly. ”

Cleanup is a breeze too. So many ice-cream scoops have the mechanical strip that scrapes the ice-cream out of the scoop, and that is simply impossible to get clean. This is just the one piece, and something about it is completely non stick. The ice cream didn’t stick at all. It is simply wonderful!

Another item they sent, which frankly won’t get as much use in my home, but will be nice to have when I need it is their apple corer.  I really think that one of the reasons that I do not use apples more often in my home and cooking is because of how work intensive they are.

It is really easy to use, and would make short work of a bushel of apples for pie or canning.  You would still need to peel the apple, but you can find gadgets out there for that as well.  I made baked apples for dessert after testing this item, and it was great to know that my prep time was literally seconds.

The next item on my list of favorite utensils by Elite Chef are their whisks.

How do I love this whisk…let me count the ways. 1) Appearance: It looks great for any kitchen (although I wish it came in other colors than red for the whisk part). 2) The whisk part is solid, although silicone. I’ve owned other silicone whisks, and the whisk part was always rather flimsy. This is very solid which is needed for really mixing and aerating things that you are mixing. 3) I love silicone for cooking because I can use this whisk to mix and stir my bechamel sauce and gravies without worry about scratching my non-stick pans (metal whisks) or melting the whisk (plastic whisks). 4) The size. At 12″ I can whisk eggs for an omelet or egg whites for dessert in my deepest stainless steel bowl without worrying about coating my hand in eggs. While I’m sure the 10″ whisk also sold by Elite Chef, is fine, I am a fan of the longer length of this one. There are other things I like about this whisk, the stainless steel handle, and you absolutely cannot beat the 100% Lifetime Guarantee. It ROCKS!

The last item for this post is the cheese-slicer. If you haven’t guessed by now, I love food.  One of the foods toward the top of my list of favorites are any kind of cheese.  I love hard, soft, cream, even the fake liquid cheeses on State Fair Nachos.  But my absolute favorite snack is to take a block of extra sharp cheddar and slice off bits and just nibble on it.

This is a great cheese knife. Both my husband and I LOVE cheese. I like anything that is cheese and he especially likes sharp cheddar. When I received this, I went out and bought a block of extra sharp cheddar because I figured that I might as well get something we both would like. I filmed the video (hopefully I will get it uploaded to YouTube soon), and put everything away. I didn’t particularly like this video I made, so the next day, I went into the fridge to get the cheese and couldn’t find it. Then I went to my utensil drawer for this cheese slicer, and couldn’t find it EITHER. My next step was my hubby’s home officer where I found a plate, some cheesy crumbs and the cheese slicer…well used.  It was a hit!

I will do another post for the final item from Elite Chef, the Almond Nut Milk Bag.  I’m in the process of finding a good source of natural raw almonds, and this is a new thing for me, making almond milk.  I’ll dedicate an entire post to that however.

Kitchen Elite V Blade Mandoline Slicer – Easy to use and to clean!!

This is something I’ve always wanted. I’ve had the cheap white plastic versions in the past, and they were an improvement over nothing I guess, but I am a foodie, I love to cook, and I really wanted a professional Mandoline for food preparation. This one is a real find! It comes with 5 different inserts to allow you to have some versatility. Two slicing plates for two different thicknesses. The thinnest makes perfect crispy potato chips, and the other is slightly thicker for fried potatoes or scalloped. I am excited to try several new recipes using these. The other blades are for grating, tiny julienne and a larger julienne which is perfect for shoestring french fries or veggies for stir fry. Warning, the blades on the main unit are EXTREMELY sharp. I was washing it, carefully, and my kitchen sponge has a piece sliced off of it because I wasn’t as careful as I should be. I can’t wait to try all kinds of veggies on this. The pusher thingy (sorry don’t know the technical name for it) is one of the best I’ve seen. It is sturdy, has long prongs to hold even the hardest potato securely, and protects your hands and fingers while slicing. They even provide a little holder for all of the insert blades when not in use. Now I just need a bigger kitchen! I love this thing, and can’t believe I’ve lived without it. Highly recommended!

I do not sell the items I review, but in case it interests you, I do include a link to it’s product page on Amazon.

Nanshy StandUp Brush Holder – Extremely Versatile for more than brushes.

I am not a make up artist, nor am I someone who wears make up often, but with that being said, I do have a lot of small containers of make up and appliers including some brushes. For a portable solution, this holder is ideal. And not just for make up and brushes. I am a teacher at a local community college, and I often transport the things I need for my classes (pens, pencils, small stapler, electronic presenter, etc.) in my pocket or in the bottom of my carryall bag, which means that they can be misplaced or damaged by bouncing around, and using this holder, I can keep all these small items organized and secure.

The holder comes in two pieces, both made from washable material, that fit together snugly and are secured by two plastic clips, one on either side. When the two pieces are together, and the clips employed, this is a very secure storage and travel solution for small items like I mentioned in the previous paragraph. Each half is extremely roomy, if you want to use them as storage cups for desktop or on your make up counter to hold your essentials.

I love this product and may order another for its intended use, but I think that this should be marketed for multi-use purposes since it is so versatile and sturdy.

I received this brush holder from Nanshy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review, so I am going to do my best to be thorough and detailed so that other customers can make an informed decision.

Artesio Soft Touch Electric Pepper Mill & Grinder, by Ozeri. Great little device!

I just got this grinder today, and it was incredibly easy to use. It takes 4 AA batteries (not included), and the way it comes apart to put the batteries in is intuitive and easy to figure out. When you remove the top part, that is where you fill with the peppercorns as well. There is a little gadget on the bottom that you can turn to adjust the grind, and once put back together, it worked flawlessly. It had an added feature of a tiny light on the bottom, which came in handy when I was preparing to bake my pork chops this evening. Our kitchen is not well lit, especially our counter-tops, and it really helps to see where the pepper is going. I don’t use a lot of pepper in my cooking because my husband has both a sensitive stomach and a sensitive palate. But I personally love it, and it worked better than I was expecting.  After only one day’s use,  everything is great and I am completely happy with it.

Ozeri Ultra Thin Professional Digital Kitchen Food Scale – Works Flawlessly!

This is a great scale. I have begun making my own health and beauty products, and many of the recipes I have found use weight rather than volume, and I have used it twice for that purpose, and everything has turned out perfectly. Additionally, we sell a lot of small things that need to be shipped, and I have always estimated the weight before printing out shipping labels, but now with this scale I can weigh up to 11 lbs (it has the option that you can change to metric as well). It has been accurate, and since I am remembering to turn it completely off between uses, the batteries seem to have a solid charge to them.

The design is clean and because of its thin profile, it is easy to find places to store it when not in use. The screen is easy to read, and there is absolutely nothing complicated about using it. I would highly recommend this product to anyone needing to weigh small items at home (or at a business for that matter!). Great product!

Bluetooth Temperature & Humidity Weather Station. 3 of 5 stars.

I received this wireless thermometer as a complimentary sample for an unbiased review. I am not a technological whiz, but I am learning more and more about electronic devices. When I received this, I was actually quite excited because for some reason, knowing how hot or cold it is has become an obsession of mine. I constantly check the weather channel, but since I live in a rural area, I am never sure the closest reading applies to me. We are in the midst of an arctic blast right now in North Carolina.

There is a definite order to setting this thing up (which is why I love reading the instructions (and other reviews). I first downloaded the free app from the Play store, and installed in on my Nexus 7 tablet (it was not compatible with my phone). Setup was relatively painless, it asked for a couple location based things and whether you wanted Celsius or Fahrenheit, and then it began looking for the unit.

Once you install the batteries (included in the package *1 star*) in the device, it automatically turns on and begins looking for a Bluetooth connection. It paired effortlessly (1 star). It began reading the temperature in my office immediately, although in Celsius (even though I had set it up for Fahrenheit), but after about 2-3 minutes, suddenly it switched to something I understand 😛 (1 star). I was very excited because it worked!!!!! But the real test came when I walked the 10 feet or so from my office to the front door, opened the door and set the unit outside on my patio table (no more than 15 feet from the tablet with the app running) to see if it would continue to work. Almost immediately, the app disconnected from the device, could not see the signal. So, following the instructions, I went back outside (brrr), opened the battery cover and reset the device, then ran to the tablet and tried to get it to reconnect. Alas it did not. The app registers the last temperature it received from the device which is 71 degrees and oh I wish that were true (We had an ice storm last night!) The device itself is relatively accurate (although it took about 20 minutes to register anything close to the actual temperature outside) although having to go outside to check the temperature seems to defeats the purpose. I wish I could give this more stars because I really wanted this to work well, but after testing and trying this unit, it just isn’t working as it should or as it is advertised.

DBTech Multi-Purpose Pressurized Steam Cleaning and Sanitizing System with Attachments – Powerful little machine!

This is the second steamer I have owned, and while the other one is bigger and holds more water, it was designed more for larger jobs. This little baby is amazing. I must confess two things in this review. The first is that I am a horrible housekeeper. My kitchen stove is disgusting, and the first test this baby got was cleaning around and under the burners that hadn’t been cleaned in a really long time. I had tried to use 409 first, and it didn’t make a dent in the gunk. So I followed the directions on this steamer, first taking the lid off. It was really frustrating until I read the directions and it literally takes 7 turns to remove the lid. Then using the measuring cup that came with it, I filled the tank with the little funnel (also included). Then screwed the lid back on (another 7 turns) and plugging it in, then the waiting. The instructions are very clear about waiting 3-5 minutes for full heat to be reached, but I was impatient and pressed the button after about a minute and a half, and a stream of extremely hot water shot out. Suitable chastised, I waited another 2 minutes and perfect, scalding hot steam shot out and melted the gunk so very quickly. Both my husband and I were amazed to find that the pan under the burner was actually silver rather than black, I can’t wait to use it again. No complaints and highly recommended.

Complimentary sample received for review.
