I love natural solutions to problems that we typically throw chemicals at to solve. Insects are one of those issues. I, especially, have spent a large part of my life throwing chemicals at insects that like to bite me. I, apparently, am a yummy treat for many of these little parasites. Mosquitoes, fire ants, gnats and other unmentionables. These aren’t poisonous to me, thank goodness, but I do itch when bitten. I’ve tried everything from ‘Deet’ based products, which usually work (but I am afraid of the long term damage to my cells for its constant use), to home made solutions with essential oils and my own herbal infusions. The home-made solutions are very time consuming, and hit and miss since I am a novice. This Insect Repellent Bracelet and clip is the best of both worlds in one. It is made from the essential oils that I am very familiar with, but doesn’t involve me slathering my skin with them. I’ve been wearing the bracelet almost continuously when outdoors (which I am outside a lot), and have noticed fewer bits. It hasn’t eliminated them entirely but I am not constantly swatting away the annoying creatures like I normally do, nor am I glowing with an oily glow from having applied my homemade concoctions head to toe. I believe this is working. I gave the clip to my husband, and as he is also a favorite snack of the voracious critters here in North Carolina (even the flies bite hard), and he has been complaining less. I am going to continue with this, and may get an extra set to use as an ankle bracelet to ensure that no matter where they try to bite, they will be faced with this wonderful assortment of natural ingredients that they HATE!

I put garlic powder in anything (eggs, pizza, spaghetti, chili, fried chicken, grits) and I almost always have a little bottle of it or garlic salt for cooking or even adding at the table. This is the first time I’ve used this brand, and I must say it is really good. The bottle settled quite a bit during shipping, so it looked like it wasn’t full, but once I tasted it, I understood a bit more what real garlic powder is supposed to taste like. It is wonderful. Some spices you get at the supermarket have a taste that is hard to describe, but almost…chemical…or artificial. This is garlic. It tastes like what it is…real garlic..dehydrated, and ground into powder. This particular brand is GMO free and it’s ingredient list is as follows: Organic Garlic Powder. Nothing else, which makes it great for the vegetarian or even vegan lifestyle. For those who are carnivores like myself, this powder tastes great on meat too!

This is a review for Organic Ginger Powder by Vedica Organics.
I like to think of myself as a ‘foodie’, and when I have time, and energy, I love to spend time trying new recipes. This ginger powder is so good, I promptly threw out the other small container of ginger I had in my spice rack. Why? Well for one, this is organic, and the ingredient list is as follows: Organic Ginger Powder. Nothing else. Seriously, why would I need anything else in my ginger. Now, the one I threw out was decent, and from a prominent company that markets spices, but 1) it wasn’t organic and 2) had ‘anti-caking’ agents in it…what are those…how do those affect my body? I am no chemist, but if I want to add ginger powder to a dish, ‘anti-caking’ agents certainly aren’t a part of the recipe. This powder is really strong too, so I have found myself adding a tad bit less than the recipe calls for unless you really like a strong ginger taste. Another thing I love about this spice is that it is GMO free. The ginger that is dehydrated & ground for this powder is not genetically modified, in fact it is all natural. That makes me happy!

I have been a fan of Melaleuca Oil for years, in fact long before Essential Oils became trendy, this was a staple in my home. Also known as Tea Tree oil, this has many uses and I will simply talk about how I use it.
I have begun making my own health and beauty products, and three that I use the most are my homemade shampoo, homemade laundry detergent and a skin softening healing salve. There are so many chemicals in the commercial versions of these products that I wanted to find healthy, organic or more natural versions, and tea tree oil is a prominent ingredient in each of these. I’ve been buying the small 15 ml bottles and if you make any quantity of these products, it can be quite cost prohibitive.
This product by Radha Beauty is of top quality, and by selling this in 4 oz. bottles, you can incorporate it in many ways without worrying about running out when you need it for something else. It comes in a lovely blue glass bottle, with a glass eyedropper so you can measure it precisely. I also rub it into my nails (both hand and toes) and while it strengthens my fingernails, it is rapidly clearing up a fungal toe nail infection I’ve dealt with for years.
My doctor gave me a product that has more health warnings on it than benefits, and I used it for two months with little results. Within two weeks of using tea tree oil, I can see new, healthy nail growing in. Granted nail growth is a slow process, but I’ve got a nice supply now to ensure I’ll finish the treatment with new healthier nails. Every house needs one of these bottles (in my humble opinion) because this one bottle can replace dozens of products. Wonderful!

I am simply providing the link where I found the product, I do not sell any of the items found on my blog, I am simply giving my honest opinion.
While I am a relative novice at essential oils, I’ve been dabbling off and on for the last several months with using different blends for use in diffusers, as well as in several DIY health and beauty products I’ve been making. Both my husband and I are learning the benefits of different oils, and different oil combinations, and collecting the variety of oils needed for the different preparations can be quite expensive. This Set by Calily is a godsend. It contains fourteen (14) different oils, most of which are some of the more commonly used ones. Some are duplicates to oils I already have, so I was able to compare the aroma and the consistency of the oils, and how well they work in products I make regularly. The oils in this batch that I already have by other oil companies are lavender, Rosemary, Sweet Orange, Eucalyptus, Lemon and Tea Tree. Those are also the ones I use the most in my diffuser. Additionally, others that I had heard of and wanted to try are Bergamot, Clary Sage and Patchouli. To round off this kit, it also contains Spearmint, Grapefruit, Cinnamon Leaf and Lime, and while I do not know their use, I am certainly open to learning and experimenting with them. Each oil is in a dark 10 ml bottle, which is quite generous for the price they are charging.
My only complaint is that the label is extremely difficult for my old eyes to read, so I am going to have to add little labels so that I can tell what is what. These oils compare positively with the ones I already have, and seem to be of similar quality. If someone is just starting out with essential oils, this is the set I would recommend because it contains most of the oils in the more common aromatherapy formulas, so the newbie can get started immediately with oils.

I bought this at a local vitamin store because I was bored and my husband was in the ColdStone Creamery nearby. I was thrilled to find out that this store has essential oils, because all the others I have bought have been online, and the few I had seen in stores in my area were either overpriced, or not pure. I bought Citronella essential oil to use in my own blend I am making as an insect repellent. I have been experimenting with essential oils only for the last 3-4 months, and through research found out that not only outdoor candles use citronella, but it can be used in other preparations as well, often more effectively. It smells heavenly, a lot different than the commercial candles I’ve had, so I am hopeful that this will work well.
First of all, I am not a health nut nor am I a weight trainer. With that out of the way, I am a 51 year old woman who, with her husband, has decided to start making changes in my life to be healthier, which includes making our lives more ‘natural’ and rethinking what we are eating. Fewer carbohydrates, more protein and basically more awareness. When I got the opportunity to try this Chocolate Meal Replacement Shake at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review, I jumped at it since it seemed it would help us along on this journey to better health. There are a lot of great things to be said about this product, and very few negative things. First of all, this package is HUGE, comes with the scoop you need, smells great as soon as you open it, and once you figure out a good balance between liquid and the powder, it actually tastes great. I’ve tried other protein drinks in the past that were quite nasty tasting, and as I took my first good drink of this, I braced myself for that ‘taste’. It wasn’t there. It just tasted like chocolate. The only negative I found with this entire product is that…as a novice, I had no idea how to use it, and the instructions on the package aren’t as clear as I need. It says to use twice a day which is on the label, and there is a chart with different weights listed and then number of scoops, and unless I really don’t understand this stuff, it looks like I should be using 4-5 scoops of this stuff for every meal I use it for? I don’t mind if that is the case because I like things super chocolatey. I don’t use that many scoops, but I do keep adding powder to get the taste I want. And one glass of this fills me up for several hours. I just wish the instructions were more clear on the package.
